Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is a zine?
- A zine is a multi-artist project where artists come together in order to create a book or booklet around a common theme. They are essentially short magazines with contents made by fans for fans.2. What is expected from someone who wishes to participate?
- All zines have different tasks and expectations for their artists. In this zine, artists will be expected to make a cover-like illustration featuring their spidersona for a hypothetical comic book for them! Along with that, artists will make a bust illustration of their sona to feature in the main cover of the zine similar to one of the main Across the Spiderverse posters! A third illustration is optional if the artist wishes to make a chibi accompanying the section with the information blurb about their Spidersona.3. Is there any previous experience needed?
- While it’s always nice to feature artists who are already familiar with how the zine-making process works, there’s no need to worry about that bringing any sort of favoritism! People with all levels of experience are welcome, from starters to pros!4. Will this zine generate any funds?
- Because of the nature of the content being produced, this zine will be a completely free-to-access project! The only instance in which this might change is if the participants wish to come together to fund the production of physical copies that will then be sent out to all the involved contributors.5. Will there be any shipping involved?
- While the objective of the zine isn’t to portray romantic pairings, depictions of pairings are allowed as long as they do not endorse any kind of problematic behavior.6. Are there any individuals who will not be allowed to participate in the project
- Background checks can and will be done to all artists who are considered for approval to ensure the safety of all contributors. As such, anyone who is found to be involved in proshipping, doxxing, or discrimination of any nature (racism, xenophobia, homophobia, etc.) will be immediately blacklisted.7. How will the zine be formatted?
A Web of Life and Destiny will be constructed in a double-sided format, meaning the zine will be split into two different sections of equal size. The artists will be split into two different categories: Team Miguel and Team Miles! As for size specs, illustrations should be made taking into consideration an A5 format.
